Title: The Avatar Has Returned....
Post by: silencer789 on September 29, 2007 10:46 PM
After 10 months approximately, the Avatar can back on the air for the final book, the book of fire.... i was starting to lose hope and was about to protest nickelodeon for making one of the last remaining decent nickelodeon shows, and abandoning it....but fortunately, they didnt abandon avatar: the last airbender, so there are no broken bones on their conscious.....YET!

i must not have heard about the new avatar episodes in july, 'cause nickelodeon was such a terrible channel (Camp Lazlo, MY GYM PARTNER IS A MONKEY, WTF!!!), that i had to turn it to cartoon network....

no man, it sucks because it's impossible for anyone to find north american anime to be good.

avatar has an unusually huge fanbase, and while i haven't seen any of it, it might actually have some merit to it because every american anime has utterly failed except for that show

~Nerd alert~

I am referring to myself here...

But the reason Avatar took 10 months to come back is because the guy who was the voice actor for the grandfather passed away. So they had his understudy to do the voices for the grandfather...

And the book of fire shouldn't be the last book. There should be One more. The Air book. Makes sence if you think of it because the is (in order) Water, Earth, Fire , and Air.

there are books? i mustve picked this up late, ive just been watching episodes here and there. the surprising thing is im usually religiously against anime, 99% i hate it. but avatar isnt animated in the kooky anime style, it just have references. and some parts did make me laugh a bit. i must say it was an impressively good show, compared to what i expected

It's pretty much cowboy bebop with samurai in the past instead of cowboys in the future.

avatar has a big fanbase because it rips ideas and overall design elements from other popular japanese entertainment.  teen titans did it so goddamn much it made me want to vomit  all of these networks are just full of shit and hungry for money.

on a more serious note, lets all take a moment of silence for the late great Mako

samurai jack has a few silent episodes or with little dialogue. tartakovsky is a guy that doesn't use dialogue unless he has to. probably saves money as well, lip sync is tedious work

let's talk about the boondocks again cause I actually know that cartoon.

avatar is a very pretty looking show with amazing visuals, lots of frames, plenty of quality otherwise

but unfortunately it's really gay

my gym partner is a monkey is one of the worst shows ever. the whole show revolves around shitty monkey ass cheek jokes, which, are supposed to be funny i think. the show is gross but not the kind of gross that makes me want to watch it

whenever the tv is on im usually not paying attention to it, its just good for background noise. my gym partner is a monkey is one of the only shows that i will never allow to play in the background

i'm sure he does do it because he wanted to , but it does save time as well. the cartoon was unique to many other "kids" cartoons because it didn't have a lot of dialogue. it was very cool

the best cartoons were undeniably in the 90's.

ahh real monsters, rockos modern life, ren and stimpy, angry beavers, street sharks, tin tin, fuck i couldnt be bothered naming them all but i could go on forever.

fuck, nickelodeon was my favourite channel as a kid, it had everything I needed.

And the book of fire shouldn't be the last book. There should be One more. The Air book. Makes sence if you think of it because the is (in order) Water, Earth, Fire , and Air.

Yet it's understandable why there would be no Air Book season.  The Air benders were all wiped out, with the exception of Aang.  Technically, each book so far has focused on one of the elemental nations.  The wind nation therefore doesn't really need much story, with the exception of some good flashbacks.  We'll probably see the fall (or change of rulers) of the fire nation in this third season.  Ha, but on a side note, it's cool that Mark Hamill is the voice for Zuko's father.

I can't understand why anyone doesn't like Avatar.  It has what so very few cartoons have.  An impressive script.  Sure the characters and fight choreography make the show all the more watchable, but episodes such as "Avatar Day" really shine with priceless quotes and humour.  It also serves good morals to kids that few cartoons out there are prepared to go into, and Avatar's done pretty well for the fact that it's survived without hot scantly clad chicks roaming about in it, or unnecessary bloody violence, to appease certain crowds.  Those are some reasons in why I can see where Hayao Miyazaki's works have inspired its creators.  They've even acknowledged that to be the case.  In a way, it's brought a sense of style and emotion to the show on a more spiritual level.

lol, Nick wasn't even around when I was a kid, but I was still able to watch Rocko, Ahh RM, and R&S casually on an ol' antenna TV channel.  Unfortunately, R&S did not evolve well.  I caught a glimpse of a new age episode that was invented for a more adult viewing base on the cable's comedy channel.  Sure, the cartoon had some sickening moments in its prime, but at least they were actually funny.  The adult version of the show was simply pathetic.

Anyhoo, Cartoon Network has some good shows too... yet just not as many.  Megas XLR, Samurai Jack, Venture Bros, and the earlier episodes of Sealab are great viewing.  I used to like Powerpuff Girls and Dexter's Lab too when I was younger, but they've kinda grown stale on me now.  At least they were better than the crap and pokemon-like anime rejects that have rolled in one after another, nowadays.

i agree that ren and stimpy cartoon party was vulgar only for the sake of being vulgar. the restraints john k had on nickelodeon forced him to be more creative and thus made the show better
