i have said that the standard of quality of newgrounds is pretty low, and that generally it's very easy to entertain and gain an audience on newgrounds. i think even you would agree that a large portion of newgrounds are just 13 year olds looking for hentai and video game parodies laced with profanity.

no I wouldn't agree because your making an assessment based on opinion, yet you present it as fact, which it isnt. If that was the case then half of the artist on there wouldn't even try.

It only appears that fast, funny, and cheap gets FP more than epic flashes because the epic flashes take longer. what are we supposed to do? keep the frontpage blank until something more substantial arises?

i never mentioned the frontpage or the "epic" quality of a cartoon's production (lmao), i mentioned newgrounds as a whole. and while it may be my opinion that most flashes on newgrounds are not that great, i feel like you're only disagreeing with me for the sake of disagreeing with me, because even most cartoons on television are not that great, and it's pretty safe to say newgrounds is heavily catered to the internet and not television.

Quake Marine appeared in a tech base. He looked around for survivors but there were none, but then he saw a man and he was dying "Help! Quake Marine come here!" he said, dying "What is it?" Quake Marine said "There are monsters all around! Quickly you must take this shotgun"And Quake Marine took the shotgun and shot the survivor to ease his pain.
Quake Marine went down the elevator and saw zombies with guns. Quake Marine gasped and took down demons by shooting down the rocks which killed the aliens. But they missed!
"Oh no!" said Quake Marine and he switched to his super shotgun "I will avenge the death of my brother!" he said and shot down the bridge which the marines were over and they fell in and drown.
"Yes!" said Quake Marine and he walked over the bridge to reach the tech base which he was outside. But then there was a zombie dog! "Oh no zombie dogs!" said Quake Marine and he shoot the exploding barrels and they were explode taking the zombie spiders (which exploded)
Quake Marine went down the hallways and it was very creepy with monsters everywhere. Monsters popped out of vases but they were shot at and died. "We will defeat you Quake Marine!" said the monsters but they died before they could say that.
Quake Marine jumped over the slime pits and fell in. "Excrements!" said Quake Marine "I will have to use lightning gun to launch myself up into the top bridges above and escape to safety" and he shot the lightning below him and he flew up to reach the hooks above and he grabbed them. "Yes"
But suddenlly there was earth Quake, "Oh no!" shouted Quake Marine and he fell into the chasm below.

Rtil just wants to straighten some issues out on NG concerning the audience, while MC is taking this as an insult against everything hes helping to represent. But at the same time, it might seem like Rtil is underestimating the magic that still lies within NG waiting to bloom. And therefore it almost looks like hes undermining the multiple talents that exist there, but personally i dont wish to see it that way. More like voicing an opinion on what is possibly holding NG back in some aspects. And maybe do something about it like encouraging future artists to choose a good path to their own careers. Take me as an example. Jesus Christ, i was stacking everything i had on the anime category without choosing my own way of drawing things. Why? Because i was affected by the mainstream which had me walking confused into a path that had none of the qualities that i needed for my artistic spirit. Zekey was one of those who warned me not to combine anime with my own twist. It turned out completely fucked up. I wasnt ready for anime. And i dont care anymore about anime because there are better paths to choose.

I understand that MC wishes to defend the values of NG, by any means including those that have been personally accepted by the audience. Standing up tall for the audience and listening to them because without them there wouldnt have been "magic" in the air. And MC knows that very well. Raising a generation of new artists isnt easy because of the enormous amount of overexaggerated mainstream materials which influence that gets to everyone, but we're all taking a part to make a difference in the mix. Different tastes, different opinions, different views but guys... all we ever want is to bring joy through our artistic work. You two just have to find a way to.. fit your goals together. We all want the best out of the whole. So what if you dont share the same opinions on some flash, the real problem is how we will be able to equally benefit from our works. And the way of how we look at problems must be considered carefully otherwise we end up bashing each others. Instead of taking the opinions on the issues as insults, we must work it out in a way that it comes to a common interest. Theres always a way to make it work together because we just want to please our audience, following with a responsibility that allows us to shape the audiences meanings as well, in other words influence.

Its up to you how you want it, but preferably its better off that both sides are satisfied. Instead of having artists pumping their fists into something theyre not even into in attempt to appeal to the folks. Nowadays many artists are mad because things get easily overrated, having their work over trampled with repetitive themes and work. Stuffs like these are really annoying when theyre going on in an endless circle long enough to convince the audience that there cant possibly be anything better out there. Wrong.

Rtil is a good guy. MC is a good guy. Sharing the same purpose: to entertain. How to treat the audience and how to reach them at the same time is something you guys just have to fit together, like plumbing. No matter how many channels there are in a pipe, the fluid still has to reach one destination. And that destination is what helps us to appreciate each others as artists, because we kept the fluid running and everybody is happy.
