Here I am at the beginning of the second month of the year (2011 WHOOOOOOOOoooo)
I know it's been a long time since I last posted anything so I feel like I owe you guys
As usual my New Year's resolution is always to do better in everything that I do, and in music's case, that means keeping it up and making more stuff.
HOWEVER, two things that stuck in my head were to up my technique and to "try new things".
Over the past few years, I've come to realize a lot about myself and how I make music, and it's been a bit disappointing
I don't mind listening to repetitive loops for elongated durations, but others might, and that needs to change
Usually I'll use a few easily accessible instruments to quickly jot down an idea before I forget it
The ones you do hear are ones that I thought were good or I repeated them long enough so I'd find it at a presentable length
This results in a lot of my stuff using the same instruments and therefore sounding the same and being less impressive
To remedy this, effort will be the method of 2011
Fresh batch of stuff starting with the results from the first livestream
Livestream 1
Livestream 2
Aurora Stream
Birthed from livestream, Aurora's one of the first that I'm gonna work on over time when I get the time to do so
I started with the bass, and built off of that
I feel like the sine bass gives off a feeling of warmth that I like, but I can also see it in an icy atmosphere
Crystal Moonlight
This was constructed from an incomplete memory of a song from a livestream that I don't think I'll ever come across.
It feels a little colder too me than its sibling above, and I meant for it to be that way, but it makes it sound more like it's missing something...
...maybe 'cause it's not done.
I'm considering giving this one a work over with a sine bass taking command...
If you were actually patient enough with me to sit through that torment of my amateur self and my lag, you saw that I had a mixing program up and was doing things with that as well.
Shots on the Yacht
There were a few tracks at the end of the streaming that I'll post in the next update
In other news, I'd been given the opportunity to provide a one track soundtrack to a German browser game.
It's been out since late December but I was told there'd be an English version of it too so I wanted to wait 'til then/now!
...after some talking with the guy who put me on the team, I found out that there are a few things that need to happen in order for it to be released.
You all are special, so I'm showing you anyways
Tora no Tsubasa (Wings of the Tiger)
This is to this day, the longest thing I have ever done
One look at the game told me it was gonna be one of those adventure type games, but since it was a
Standing tall at 4 seconds short of 13 minutes, it's composed of around 9 "movements" linked together and strengthened with melodies and schtuf
It was a bit stressful working on this around Christmas time 'cause it was one of the busiest ones I've had in a while!
I love the symphonic music in vidya gaems and how it can be mixed with other styles, so I think this was a great time-consuming experience at the digital roots figuring out what to use
If anything, I would change the ending so that the french horn loops better with the beginning, but bleh I'll do better in the next thing I do.
Tell me what you guys think!
